Position: Shipping Manager
Summary: The Shipping Supervisor manages the daily activities of the Shipping Department. That department is responsible for receiving, shipping, material handling, and inventory control. The manager directs and works with department employees to ensure the accurate and timely execution of all activities of the department. A candidate for this managerial position must be detail-oriented, organized, safety-conscious, able to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work well in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Maintains receiving, warehousing, kitting, and shipping operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing personnel policies and procedures.
· Insures that practices conform to all OSHA and other regulatory requirements
· Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring procedures and protocols for accuracy of inventory and good warehousing practices.
· Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with ERP system.
· Maintains the physical condition of the warehouse for the safety and organization of materials.
· Ensures the accuracy of shipments and institutes corrective actions when problems are identified.
· Maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
· Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
· Contributes to developing team effort within warehouse/logistics operations
Skills and Experience:
· Experience using ERP systems to manage transactions
· Exposure to cycle counting implementation and processes
· Experience with freight shipping, truck scheduling, and load planning
· Warehousing experience including layout, racking and good storage practices
· Staff development skills required
· Communicate effectively.
· Decision Making – Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures.
· Leadership – Ability to motivate staff.
· Problem Solving - Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associates degree and three to five years of relevant shipping/warehouse experience (including 5+ year of previous supervisory experience), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: At least 5 years in a progressive supervisory role in a manufacturing environment.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, familiarity with Solidworks or similar software, knowledge, or experience with ERP system a plus.
Other
Requirements: Expertise in Quality and ISO requirements and procedures.
