PRICING ANALYST

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Pricing Analyst is responsible for evaluating pricing requests from Sales Agents and Sales Managers and developing fact-based recommendations that grow top line and bottom-line results. This position is also responsible timely and accurate execution of pricing administration within ERP system and the continuous improvement of system pricing for order entry.

The Pricing Analyst will report directly to the Sales Operations Manager

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and maintain price list, buying groups, and customer specific pricing in Syspro, including; price changes, new product/part additions, etc.
  • Evaluate pricing requests from sales agents and Region Sales Managers, and make recommendations as directed.
  • Create, modify and activate/deactivate exception pricing agreements (CAR quotes) as directed by the Sales Operations Manager.
  • Contribute to the CAR quote renewal and extension process, including the execution of updated CAR quotes as directed by the Sales Operations Manager.
  • Support the sales management team by retrieving sales, margin, pricing and rebate data for their pricing optimization projects.
  • Work with the customer service team to continuously improve system pricing for order entry.
  • Define data requirements and extract data to support various analytical and performance management projects.
  • Analyze market trends, including competitors’ prices, marketing strategies and profitability.
  • Maintain detailed records for individual products that can be used to evaluate future market trends and inform future pricing decisions.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:

  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships across all levels internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects with minimum supervision.
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications and database software; MS Excel Advanced user. This level of skills is required to use advanced techniques for analyzing and manipulating data in Excel. Including the ability to manage Macro commands, and create MS Excel applications.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, yet able to look beyond the numbers to understand the business implications of pricing decisions.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Required

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a business, finance or pricing analytics role.
  • Experience with enterprise systems applications, SQL, MS Access, and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) a plus
  • Strong aptitude for learning new data systems (SAP, Oracle, Qlik)

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Finance, Accounting or other business-related field
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, yet able to look beyond the numbers to understand the business implications of pricing decisions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimum errors and excellent attention to detail.
  • General understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects at a time; self-starter
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Language Skills – Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to effectively present information to management.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Physical Demands – Physical Activities: Ability to stand, walk and sit. Ability to reach and use arms, hands and fingers. Ability to hear.

  • Work Environment – Quiet conditions in the office.
  • Personal, Protective Equipment - Ability to wear safety glasses and other job related personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Travel – As needed, anticipated approximately 5%.
