Job Description:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct activities to complete timely emergency repairs, routine repairs and preventative maintenance to the production machinery in the plant so that productivity is influenced as little as possible by downtime and change-overs occur as smoothly as possible.
  • Supervise and monitor the completion of capital projects which improve productivity and plant conditions.
  • Evaluate the plant operation from a mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or structural perspective for the purpose of suggesting modification to the equipment that will allow better flow of material, higher productivity and quality, greater safety or more efficient use of utilities.
  • Maintain vendor contacts, following up on lower cost or better delivery providers. Place orders for parts, services and other needs, following proper procedures. Insure proper levels of repair parts and other supplies are on hand. As needed act as a liaison with various governmental agencies such as the fire department; maintain licenses in force.
  • Provide ideas and other input into the yearly capital, extraordinary maintenance, and routine maintenance budget process, aid in the implementation of the budgets during the fiscal year.
  • Influence all teammates to report food safety issues to initiate immediate corrective actions.
  • Act as a role model and coach in culture change activities. Help drive overall plant goals to completion by engaging in plant wide initiatives and programs.
  • Assume responsibilities as designated to provide coverage in the absence of key personnel.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of related leadership experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in various areas of engineering/maintenance operations (i.e. mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or structural)
  • Must have general technical equipment assessment abilities
  • Must have the knowledge of good manufacturing practices; be safety and quality minded and have the ability to make sound decisions.
  • Must be flexible to work in a 24/7 environment; this position is currently scheduled as a night shift supervisor (6pm - 6am).
